About

We operate a local-media company. Then we do your SEO.

Most local SEO is bullshit because most agencies have never operated a real local-media business. We have. That changes how we do this.

What's Up 208 is a print magazine that lands in 5,000 Treasure Valley mailboxes a month, a weekly email, a Facebook page, and a roster of local sponsors who pay real money to be in front of this community. Running it means we live inside the exact question your SEO has to answer: how do people in a specific place actually find and choose a local business?

So when we build citations, deploy schema, optimize a Google Business Profile, or format a page so an AI will quote it, we're not following a checklist we bought. We're running the same playbook we run on ourselves — the one we can see working in our own numbers every week.

Who runs this

Two operators, one playbook

BD

Brayden Dunn

Founder · Strategy & SEO

Brayden runs What's Up 208 — the print magazine, the weekly email, the Facebook page, and the sponsorship sales that pay for all of it. He's mailed 5,000 homes a month, closed front-cover sponsors over the phone, and built the AI tooling that drafts GBP posts, audits citations, and pulls geo grids. Local SEO isn't a service he read about; it's the playbook he runs on his own business every week. When he optimizes your Google Business Profile, he's doing the exact thing he does for What's Up 208 — just pointed at your market instead of his.

K

Kaydyn

Operations & Client Success

Kaydyn keeps the business running. She owns the day-to-day — sponsor onboarding, content schedules, customer check-ins, and the dozen small things that decide whether a local-media company feels reliable or flaky. She's the reason sponsors renew: she answers fast, follows through, and treats every business owner like the relationship matters, because it does. In SEO terms she owns the part most agencies neglect — the consistent, unglamorous monthly execution that actually moves rankings. If Brayden builds the playbook, Kaydyn makes sure it gets run, on time, every month, for every client.

What we operate

The test bed is real

We don't theorize about local discovery — we run a business that depends on it. These are the numbers we live in.

Why this is our work

Operating a local-media company is the best SEO education there is

Here's the thing nobody tells you about local SEO: the hard part isn't the tactics. Citations, schema, Google Business Profile optimization — those are learnable in a weekend. The hard part is understanding how a real person in a real town decides who to call.

You only learn that by being on the other side of it. We send a print magazine and watch which businesses get calls. We write a weekly email and see which subject lines move people. We sell sponsorships and hear, in the business owner's own words, what makes a customer trust them enough to pick up the phone. Every one of those signals is the same signal Google and ChatGPT are trying to model — proximity, relevance, trust — just observed directly instead of inferred from a dashboard.

That's why we're good at this. We didn't come to local SEO from a marketing-agency org chart. We came to it because we run a local-media company and got obsessed with the exact question SEO exists to answer. When we point that obsession at your business, you get an agency that thinks like the customer you're trying to win — because we spend all day winning that same customer for ourselves.
